ASCRS recognizes the globalization of developments in anterior segment surgery. As a result, the Society has aligned itself with several international ophthalmic surgical societies. These alliances have enabled EyeWorld to offer its educational programs, print, and meeting services globally. EyeWorld print and meeting services are now delivered to an international audience via EyeWorld rePlay, an interactive web-based content capture system, print distribution, podcast, video on demand, e-mail distribution, or live meeting symposia.

EyeWorld Enduring Content Services

As the official newsmagazine of ASCRS, all EyeWorld enduring materials are ensured immediate recognition and credibility among the ophthalmic community.

EyeWorld has developed a variety of custom media projects that are designed to provide ophthalmologists with content that either introduces or reinforces new information on therapies, procedures, or products. Recognizing that physicians today obtain their information through a variety of sources and media, EyeWorld has the ability to produce printed supplements, video on demand, audio and video podcasts, and web-based initiatives that may be used as reference materials by doctors and support industry’s educational and marketing efforts. These various media projects are not mutually exclusive. EyeWorld can create economies of scale to enable an interested industry partner to produce materials using one or more of these media options simultaneously. Enduring materials may be created from:

• EyeWorld Corporate Morning and Corporate Evening programs
• One-on-one interviews
• Roundtable discussions
• Summarization of independently held corporate events

EyeWorld Meeting Services

EyeWorld Corporate Morning and Evening programs provide companies an opportunity to offer their own educational content adjacent to major ophthalmic meetings in the United States as well as at international destinations. EyeWorld facilitates the logistics, planning, and marketing of these events; the corporate host controls the content.

Introduced in 2009, EyeWorld Education (ASCRS-authorized education) events are negotiated, non-CME programs. The ASCRS Director of Education and the ASCRS CME Advisory Committee recognize the need for non-CME programs that will advance the art and science of ophthalmic surgery. Funding is obtained through educational grants, and EyeWorld oversees content control to ensure that each session contains balanced information.

In 2010, EyeWorld and ASCRS, as joint sponsors, will be seeking unrestricted educational grants for EyeWorld CME programming adjacent to major United States ophthalmic meetings. The content for these programs will be developed based upon the educational needs identified through ASCRS’ annual needs assessment process conducted by the ASCRS CME Advisory Committee and ratified by the ASCRS Executive Committee.
